Saturday, April 26th, 9:30am – 2pm,
the Village will be hosting a big event in the Village Park to conclude a week
of environmental awareness. This is a FREE event and is open to the whole
family. Each year we choose a community project so that residents and families
may become more involved with the community in which they live. It is a
wonderful opportunity to feel a sense of accomplishment and cooperation. The
new Welcome Sign, located at Hwy. 63 and Cemetery Road, gives quite the greeting
to travelers entering our community and is to be completed with its finishing
touches on Saturday and the following week, May 3rd. The overall landscaping
project will involve spreading dirt, laying the weed barrier, planting trees and
shrubbery, mulching, and placing rock. It is a big project, but with help we
will be able to have it done very quickly. The materials necessary to complete
the task will be provided by the Village; it is asked that participants bring
their own gloves, shovels, garden rakes and other hand tools. As a token of
appreciation, a donated lunch is offered to workers at 12pm. There will be
additional activities in the Village Park, along with information to take home
from booths and exhibits. At 12:30 – 2pm, quest speakers will share on their
personal “green” initiatives and provide information on how to implement such
practices within your own home and/or business. Door prizes will be awarded
to participants, Caricatures by KiMark Art Studio and “Green” Prizes and
Discounts from Turtle Lake Businesses. We hope you are able to attend and be a
part of a long lasting development that thousands will see each day and to learn
more about our impact on this world.
