Earth Week 2006 - April 22nd-28th
"Conserving Our Resources"
At the March 20th, 2006 Village Board Meeting, a proclamation was signed by the board members to recognize April 22nd through April 28th as Earth Week 2006 here in the Village of Turtle Lake. The week begins on Earth Day, April 22nd, and will end on Arbor Day, April 28th.
The Village has held Spring and Fall Clean-Up days for many years, and in the past numerous residents have participated in this event. The success and anticipation of this day led to expanding on an already established movement to beautify and consciously take care of our surrounding environment. 2006 will mark the second annual event of Earth Week in Turtle Lake. It is a time to recognize and celebrate the international holiday of Earth Day and doing our part in preserving our forests and landscape with Arbor Day.

Did you know?
- If every household replaced one light bulb with a compact fluorescent bulb, it would be the equivalent of eliminating the pollution from one million cars!
- If every plastic bottle were recycled, landfills would be 2 billion tons lighter!
- Used motor oil from a single oil change can ruin a million gallons of fresh water—a year’s supply for 50 people! (You dump it, you drink it.)
- Planting 100 million trees could reduce the amount of carbon by an estimated 18 million tons per year and at the same time, save American consumers $4 billion each year on utility bills.
